I was super excited when Heather contacted me to set up family portraits for her family: She, her husband Will, and their three daughters, Mary, Millie, and Nora brought James home from Korea a year ago this November. She was so kind to let me push their session back two weeks to attend a church event, and her husband was even willing to do the session on his birthday! We met up You can definitely tell how much these kiddos adore their parents, and James fits right into the family like their missing puzzle piece.
It was so much fun to work with each individual child and figure out what brought out their personality and joy. I loved capturing each of the girls with James and getting just a little look at what life is like for this family. One of my all-time favorite parts of a family portrait session is when Mom and Dad let me do one or two sets of photos of just them. These were no exception and hard to narrow down for you guys!
Psalm 82:3 has always stuck out to me, “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” It was neat to connect the dots and hear about their Korean adoption experience from people who are living this out, especially since we have some friends going through a Korean adoption now. Heather’s willingness to help someone she doesn’t know with great tips and tricks for their upcoming trips to Korea was so refreshing. Where would James be today if his family hadn’t brought him home?
Without further ado, enjoy many of my favorites from their session:
