A Birmingham, AL Fresh 48 Hospital Newborn Lifestyle Portrait Session with Baby Colt + Leigh Ann Goodin Photography

It was a Thursday in October. My sister in law and brother were at the hospital getting ready to have my first nephew and Dixon’s first baby cousin. I stopped in for a visit mid day to say hi. I went on about my day, picking up Dixon, and taking care of my family and working. That evening my mom called to tell me it was time for Lauren to push, and I couldn’t stay home like I had planned. I had to go welcome that sweet boy to the world and celebrate with my family! By the time I settled my family in for the night, let my parents’ dogs out, and made it to the hospital at 7:16 pm on October 4th, 2018, Colt was here! I got off the elevator to my parents huddled over my mom’s phone looking at a picture of our newest little family member. Colton Sawyer Schmidt had finally arrived! Weighing in at 7 pounds, 1.6 ounces and 19 and 1/2 inches long, with blue eyes and brown hair and our whole family couldn’t have been more in love with him!

Saturday morning I was able to get back to the hospital for their fresh 48 hospital newborn lifestyle portrait session. I learned that my big brother is the swaddle master, and just the sound of my sister in law’s voice calms my nephew at a moment’s notice. They are already rocking the parenting thing as a team and are a beautiful example of selflessly loving and serving one another as they care for their son.

Sweet Baby Colt, it’s going to be so much fun being your aunt! But even better than having me as your as your aunt, will be having your mom and dad as your parents. They are kind, and smart, and funny. They will be there for you whenever you need them. Learn from them, and trust them, and they will teach you fun things like baseball and feed you delicious treats like cheesecake 🙂  I can’t wait to capture your memories as you grow up. You’re going to fit right in with our family, buddy.  We love you so much!!
