“Jessica and Cory have chosen to do a cord of three strands during their ceremony,” the officiant announced. I had seen the sign and cords earlier in the day, but I hadn’t given much thought to their significance until the ceremony. Until that moment, at least. I watched as Cory and Jessica giggled, cried happy tears, and braided that cord together, surrounded by their best friends and family at the goegeaous Ross Bridge Resort in Birmingham. As they vowed to put God in the center of their marriage and love one another through it all, I snapped away, all while trying to also observe that sacred and beautiful moment in their ceremony. Then I watched as Cory prayed over Jessica. I couldn’t hear them, and I wouldn’t have wanted to intrude. It was such a perfect moment that represents what marriage is really all about.
Jessica had planned every detail for her Ross Bridge Resort wedding. From the vendors with the perfect florals, to the most fun DJs and videographers. Every color choice was well was well designed, especially with the suits, bridesmaids dresses, and flowers. Even the invitation suite matched! Cory had enough groomsmen to make a baseball team, which would be appropriate since Cory played baseball at my alma mater UAB, where they met. Jessica’s bridesmaid friends seriously all could have been models and they had the best joyful giggles for pictures! It was the most perfect fall weather Birmingham, AL had seen so far this year, and the sunset was spot on for golden hour husband and wife portraits on the golf course.
Cory + Jessica, you’re already off to a great start in your marriage. You understand the concept of a cord of three strands, and don’t ever forget it! Especially when times get hard. It was such an honor to spend your big day with you, documenting your details, your joy, and your love for one another. I hope you will always look at these photos and remember how much love you felt for one another on your wedding day. Here are some of my favorite images.

Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
