A Birmingham, AL Maternity Session with Kensi + Drew and Leigh Ann Goodin Photography

The stunning, overgrown field probably didn’t seem special to any of the cars passing by. They were zooming up and down a random road off I-20. We were just outside of Birmingham, AL in the middle of October. The temperature was the most comfortable it had been all day. The light was glowing just right. It was magical, the way it sparkled through the trees. It danced around Kensi + Drew. She had the most beautiful flower crown placed ever so perfectly on top of her head of freshly curled blonde locks. Her makeup was flawless. It was Kensi’s turn to step on the other side of the camera today! Beside her husband, the father of her soon-to-make-her-debut baby girl, it was maternity session time for this photographer!

“Hold on guys, I stepped in an ant bed.” If that was to let that set the tone for how this maternity session with Kensi and Drew was going to go, we were going to be in trouble. Luckily, I’m an expert at stepping in ant beds on portrait sessions, so I was able to bounce back quickly. I’m never too afraid to laugh at myself 🙂

Sometimes when you plan with fellow creatives, you can make magic happen. I feel like this portrait session is such a good example of that. Between our mutual knowledge of very specific shooting and posing styles, this session flowed seamlessly. Kensi knew how to style their outfits so they would coordinate and look the most flattering on camera, as well as accessorize well. And don’t forget that stunning flower crown from Kathryn Anne Weddings. We were able to shoot this session from beginning to end in less than 45 minutes, including the outfit change in the car. We even walked to and from the car twice! That being said, I uploaded just over 100 images to their final gallery in less than 48 hours. It was so much fun laughing and creating this gallery together.

Kensi and Drew, just keep laughing together and loving one another and you’ll make the best parents! It was such an honor to be able to capture this special time for you guys before sweet baby Collins gets here. I can’t wait to meet her, watch her grow, and watch you two grow into the parents God has already designed you to be. Here are some of my favorites from our time together.
