The whole room was filled with the sounds of worship as the guests at Katie + Brandon’s Nashville church wedding sang. It was easily the most powerful moment of any wedding ceremony I’d been a part of. Along with the groom, friends and family raised their hands in worship as the guitar played “Great Are You Lord.” I sang under my breath, tears filling my eyes as I captured the powerful moments that started off the wedding ceremony. God was so present there, as He has been throughout the bride + groom’s whole relationship. As He has been for them through everything leading up to that moment.
From each piece of gently placed greenery to the perfectly selected blue suits and gray bridesmaids dresses, you’d never know this wedding was planned from across the world. With the help of their family and friends, Katie and Brandon planned their wedding from Taiwan, where they serve as missionaries. Only God could write a story where He takes a man from Tennessee and a woman from Alabama but living in Tennessee, carries them across the globe to serve Him, and has them fall in love. They were sure to incorporate touches from their lives in Asia throughout the day. They did a traditional giving of gifts to their parents during their ceremony and gave tiny Taiwanese pineapple cakes to their guests as reception favors.
Katie + Brandon, keep living in obedience to Him and letting His light shine through you and all the rest of the desires of your heart will follow. I had the best time crying through your ceremony, fighting the southern July heat, and capturing every detail of your perfect wedding day. I can’t wait to see how God continues to move through each of you overseas and even more so through your marriage!
