The Acker Family: A rainbow after their Covid storm.

Dad meets his daughter after not being present for her both due to being ill with Covid-19.

It’s 2020. We’ve lived the last 6+ months in the world of Covid-19. Imagine you’re less than a week out from having your baby. Probably your last baby, who’s surprise gender you’re planning to find out together at birth after two sweet boys. And your husband gets sick with what seems like a cold. Then comes the real kicker…a positive Covid-19 test. Your husband is no longer allowed to be at the hospital for the birth. It’s not safe for him to help care for your children or you after major abdominal surgery and bringing a tiny human into the world. And all the sudden he’s really sick and you can’t care for him either. What would you even do?

So when McKenzie invited me to document Kyle’s meeting his daughter after this nightmare, I could not wait to document such joy! In case you needed a reminder, I live for all the joy in such a dark world. This was the epitome of a rainbow after the storm. Praise the Lord her mom lives in town and was able to take in Mckenzie and all the kids while Kyle recovered. By God’s grace, their meeting was already scheduled for a time I was available and could enjoy this moment behind my lens. I know I’m not alone in being so thankful that Kyle is on the mend and back together with his family.

Baby Millie, your family is amazing. God doesn’t say IF the storms come, but WHEN they come, and sweet girl, when your storms come, you’ll always remain strong! Your mama is already modeling that for you. Your brothers already adore you. And as a little sister to two older brothers just like you, let them. They will drive you crazy, they will pester you, and they will disgust you with all the boy things at times. But they will protect you and have your back. They’ll go from obnoxious brothers to best friends before you know it. Here are some of my favorites from our time together:

Kyle was saying “Oh, you’re so tiny!” Millie was their smallest baby, by far.

And here’s where I lost it. Very quietly, of course, behind my camera, as usual 🙂
